Music News Fall 2006
Hey folks, been a looooong time since I posted here last, but hey, at least I have a good reason. I am now a full time college student at Potomac State College of WVU and majoring in (suprise suprise) Journalism.
Without further ado, lets get into some MODERN ROCK news!
First up....Chevelle. After a disappointing release of "This Type of Thinking..." Chevelle is recording a 4th studio album with a current release target date of February 2007. Several song titles rumored to be on the new CD include "Humanoid", "Straight Jacket Fashion", and "One Cell".* Shocking news also accompanies, as it has been confirmed that Joe Loeffler, (pictured at left) bass guitarist and original founding member of Chevelle, was fired by his two brothers. As can be expected, Joe was not happy with his firing, and fired back at his brothers via a message board post shortly after he was fired. Joe has since been replaced at bass guitar by, conveniently, by a brother-in-law to the Loeffler brothers, Dean Bernardini.
LINKIN PARK! Wow, when was the last time we heard something from them? The only thing that has been heard till now was solo projects by Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington...until now! Linkin Park confirmed that they are working on a new album, due out next year. However, the news didn't come without some rather disturbing news...according to Chester Bennington, the nu-metal sound of the previous two albums is "totally gone". Now, I don't know about you folks, but I liked the hard edgy sound from the previous two albums. Who knows what Linkin Park has up their sleeves, but be prepared for a new sound coming from Linkin Park in the near future.
Staind is preparing to release a "retrospective" CD next month, named "The Singles". This release, according to frontman Aaron Lewis, will include all of Staind's singles, plus bonus features, but perhaps best of all, a DVD with videos for all the tracks. I myself cannot wait for this release, and since my 19th birthday is in November, this will be yet another reason to anxiously await November this year. Lewis also is quoted as saying that the band will begin work on their 6th album shortly, although no release date was announced.
Trapt has been rumored to be working on their 3rd album, along with news that Seether is working on their 3rd album also. In addition, Five Bolt Main's new album is being produced by Chris Henderson, guitarist for 3 Doors Down. It will be very interesting to see what comes out of that project.
Thats all I have for now, so take care, and I promise, the next update WILL occur alot sooner than the last one!
ROCK ON!!!
