Compilation CD's
If you are a diehard music fan, you surely know about all the compilation CD's that are out there, with the 2 main versions being the "Now Thats What I call Music" series and the "Totally Hits" series. Now, what do these CD's hold in store for us rock fans? Not too dang much. Out of the approx 20 songs on every CD, only 4 or 5 might be of the modern rock music genre. Lets take the 2 most recent releases as examples. In "Now Thats What I Call Music Vol. 18", there are only 4 true modern rock songs on the CD. They include Chevelle's "Vitamin R Leading Us Along", Hoobastank's "Disappear", Three Days Grace's "Home", and Good Charlotte's "I Just Wanna Live". The rest are R&B or rap songs. Slim pickins for rock fans. "Totally Hits 2005" is worse; there are no true modern rock songs on this CD. About the closest things to them on the CD are Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" and Avril Lavigne's "Nobody's Home". Other than thats its again, nothing but R&B and rap. If you're like me, you aren't gonna blow $14 bucks on a CD for only 4 songs that you want. But, if you can find these compilation CD's at a yard sale for 5 bucks, sure get em, I always go by the "dollar a song" rule. If you can get a CD with more songs on it than the number of dollars being charged for it, get it. I rarely buy CD's if they are over $10, mainly due to the fact that I'm a cheapskate, hehehe. So, if you have some songs that you like, go buy the album that the songs came off of, you won't be stuck with a bunch of songs that u don't like, and you'll probably like the songs that are on the original album anyway.
